Hijama Wet Cupping for Hidradenitis Suppuritiva.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a long term, recurrent, and painful disease in which there is inflammation (redness, tenderness and swelling) in areas of skin containing apocrine sweat glands. These glands are found mainly in the armpits, breasts and groin. With HS, there is a blockage of the hair follicles in these areas which leads to the formation of painful boil-like lumps, areas leaking pus, and scarring. HS tends to start around the age of puberty and is more common in women than men.

The cause of HS is not well understood but the immune system is thought to play a part in the development of this chronic long term disease.

Since hijama wet cupping assists with the filtering of cellular waste material from the blood, it is understood that it reduces the levels of inflammation in the body and calms the immune system. This can markedly reduce the frequency of and severity of Hidradenitis abscess formation.

At the Harrow Cupping Clinic we have successfully performed wet cupping therapy for a number of clients with long term skin diseases characterised by chronic immune system inflammation.

A course of regular hijama treatments can help keep Hidradenitis suppurativa under control.

At your first appointment, your therapist will perform a detailed clinical assessment for you and provide a tailored treatment plan to help support you on your journey towards healing from HS.
